I'm a data scientist at Essentia Health. Before that, I was a political scientist.

I have a Ph.D. in political science from the University of Minnesota, where I studied Congress and the American welfare state. After that I taught for a year at the University of Minnesota, Morris, which is also where I went to college.

The blog has data and analysis write-ups. The archive has what I wrote about Congress and academic life from 2014 to 2017, left as it was.

I live in Minnesota. Outside of work I cheer for midwestern sports teams, explore state parks, and watch PBS.
